The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists - Gideon Defoe If you write a plotless, satirical book with cardboard cut-out characters that could technically be called a novelette because it's so short it had better be hilarious. I found the book more silly than funny. I know this is satire but why should only the pirate captain talk like a pirate? The schtick is everyone in the book is a bumbler to varying degrees but that routine has been done better before. It was amusing but I wouldn't read another book in this series.
